4 Introducing the GenAI in Teaching and Learning Toolkit

Introducing the GenAI in Teaching and Learning Toolkit from BCCampus

Are you interested in learning about AI?  Maybe also interested in using it in your teaching?  BCcampus has recently released their toolkit for educators curious about AI.  I have to say, I love the subtitle of the resource: “The least you need to know as educators.” It seriously made me laugh out loud.  You can access this resource here, or click cover page below.  You can read the BCcampus October 2024 blog about the release of this toolkit here. If you’d like to hear a bit more about the toolkit, read on!

The capabilities of AI have been evident in business, arts, and education and so many other areas.  Some see AI as a threat, others as a science fiction, and others see it as a tool.  For me, it all depends on the context.  The BCcampus GenAI in Teaching and Learning Toolkit is a fantastic resource for educators wanting to get to know  more about AI.

There are portions of the toolkit ideal for all levels of knowledge and comfort of/with AI: beginners, explorers, and regular users of AI.  There are sections on AI basics, thoughts on ethical implications of AI, practical uses in education, ideas on how to adapt/design assessments, possible pitfalls, and even a module on how to develop your own personalized chatbot.

I found the section on “Designing Assessment in the age of AI really interesting and applicable.

I hope you have a chance to check it out!
